A Serene Sitting Room Addition
An Unused Porch gets Converted into a Serene Sitting Room
Living in a coastal town, the desire for more outdoor living space is often a common request from our clients when it comes to remodeling. But for these homeowners, their vision was quite the opposite. Instead of creating more outdoor space, they wanted to convert a porch into a sitting room for their master bedroom. Here's a look at the transformation:
We began the process by sketching design mock-ups of the interior and exterior. Our goal was not only to create a relaxing space for the owners to enjoy, but also to make sure the architectural design of the new addition improved the overall curb appeal of the home.
In order to add interest and dimension to the exterior, we installed a walk-out bay window, and replaced the stucco facade with siding, which gave the exterior a refreshing facelift.
Inside the bedroom, a large cased opening with transom welcomes you into the sitting room, while also allowing light from the sitting room to flow into the bedroom.
Since the owners were losing a porch, they wanted the space to be as bright and airy as possible. The new windows and sliding door with transom flood the room with an abundance of natural light, and the new oak floors add warmth to the space. Classic crown molding, and soothing Benjamin Moore Hancock Green walls add the finishing touch to this remodel.
The homeowners now have a beautiful addition to their master bedroom and an inviting and serene space they can enjoy all year long.
